2017 International Germanic Genealogy Conference

2017 International Germanic Genealogy Conference was held in Minneapolis July 28, 29 and 30th. It was a huge success with over 700 participants. The theme of the conference was Connections: International. Cultural. Personal.

The excitement and passion of all attending was obvious and everyone made new connections with people from all over the country and the world.

There were over 40 presenters covering a wide range of genealogical and historical topics. Much of the success was due to many volunteers working together making it one of the best conferences of the year.

Wade was one of the presenters giving people a snapshot of what life was like in the early nineteenth century in the many separate German countries at the time. Specifically, he addressed the conditions in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic, which was under Austrian rule. In addition, Wade gave an informative presentation on German-Bohemian culture and immigration to the United States. People often wonder what life was like in the times of their ancestors and the reasons they decided to immigrate to a new land.

It was an excellent opportunity to learn more about researching your German ancestors, not only from Germany today, but also from all over the world.

Great connections were made and ideas for tours to Brazil and New Zealand to visit places where German and German-Bohemian immigrants settled will be included in future tour options.
